This is going to be the first of many articles we put out on the progress of Lamina Island. The goal of these progress logs is to mark out the biggest features that have been added, changed, or removed. It won’t cover everything that was done, but it will cover anything major. We also will have a dev log for those of you interested in the more technical side of how it was made.
Nothing is set in stone, and during game development a lot of features will be re-designed or completely scraped over time due to many reasons. These progress logs provide a snapshot into what the game looks like at the time of writing them, and hold no promise of what will make it into the final product.
The focus of this month for our development in Lamina Island has been our Alchemy Minigame.
This is a mini game for Lamina island that allows you to create potions using the ingredients you have collected. The goal of the mini game is to bring the ingredients from where they drop to a recipe bottle while avoiding the radicals released by said ingredients.
The radicals come in various elements and getting hit by them will cause you to lose your ingredients.
When you do successfully finish a recipe & brew a potion, there is a chance that it will leave behind some residue. Collecting this residue will give you a shield of that residue’s element that can be used to block radicals of that matching element.
The potions you brew in this mini game are saved in your inventory, and we plan on putting them to use in a future feature.
